The Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences (FBNS) Department offers numerous training and educational opportunities. The information below includes in-person and virtual (live) opportunities in support of new food safety regulations regarding the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Please check out the Food Safety Education and Training website for a complete listing of online and in-person courses.

The Food Safety Modernization Act requires mandatory personnel training for 3 of the 7 foundational rules:

  • Preventive Controls for Human Food
  • Preventive Controls for Animal Food
  • Produce Safety

Completion of both the Human and Animal food courses will certify the participant as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).

FDA recognized training courses are offered for all three rules through NC State University in conjunction with Cooperative Extension. Find a course time and location that suits your needs!
