NC State Extension is excited to announce “Navigating Your Food Business: A Success Series”, a free educational series designed to support North Carolina food entrepreneurs and processors in building and growing successful, compliant food businesses. This opportunity brings together business and food safety experts to provide practical guidance on key topics across the food industry. Register here.

Webinar Series (Virtual)

Join us every Wednesday in May and June from 1:00–2:00 PM (live) or 6:00–7:00 PM (recorded with live Q&A) for sessions covering:

  • May 6: “Got to Be NC” – Marketing with NCDA&CS
  • May 13: Marketing & Competitive Analysis
  • May 20: Grant Writing for Food Businesses
  • May 27: Taxes, Licenses, and Business Considerations
  • June 3: Food Labeling – Do’s and Don’ts
  • June 10: Retail Foods, Food Trucks, and Market Opportunities
  • June 17: Third-Party Audit Certifications

In-Person Sessions (May–June, Across NC)

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend in-person sessions held in Eastern, Central, and Western North Carolina. These 2.5 hour sessions will provide networking opportunities, along with access to a food safety implementation guide, SOPs, and templates to strengthen food safety programs.

Core topics include:

  • Personnel hygiene written policies
  • Supplier approval program
  • Process controls (e.g., temperature, pH)
  • Sanitation program
  • Allergen management
  • Labeling requirements
  • Recall planning

This series is ideal for food entrepreneurs, small processors, and value-added producers looking to strengthen their operations while meeting regulatory requirements.
