There are over 200,000 animals listed as “pollinators,” which is any organism that carries pollen grains from one flower to the next. Unfortunately, pollinator numbers have steadily been declining since the 1950s. Don’t be discouraged though, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center is here to the rescue. On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, from 9–11 a.m. we will be hosting a Pollinator Gardening class to show how you can help. Pollinator gardens are simple additions to your yard that attract these animals while providing a beautiful scene. After this class, you’ll be able to identify a few of our native bird, insect, and mammalian pollinators, gain insight into the plants that benefit them, and feel comfortable planning and designing your own pollinator garden. Make sure to register for this free class at https://currituckpollinatorgardening.eventbrite.com as seating is limited and will fill up quickly!

If you have questions about the event, or if you need accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Chris Blaha at 252-232-2262 or email ctblaha@ncsu.edu no later than five business days before the event.
